Testing encryption in the sandbox environment

You can test encrypting credit card information for credit cards API authorization requests in the sandbox environment.

  • The sandbox environment supports the RSA-OAEP with SHA256 and SHA1 hashing encryption algorithms.

  • You receive separate encryption keys from Toast integrations support for the production and sandbox environments. Encryption keys for the sandbox environment do not work in the production environment.

  • You can use a test public encryption key for the sandbox environment. The Toast integrations support team provides you with a test encryption key.

  • In the sandbox environment, the credit cards API does not validate whether the CVV, ZIP code or expiration date you submit are formatted correctly. For more information about the correct way to format these values see Encrypting credit card information.
