Toast API web services are versioned independently. Multiple versions of a web service may be running simultaneously as the service is upgraded. The version of the API is embedded in the REST endpoint URL, for example, v1. The endpoint of the orders service in the orders API is shown in the following example.


Toast reserves the right to fix bugs or otherwise improve the underlying code that implements a particular version of an API, but will not remove functionality, change field names or data values used by the API, or change the semantics of functions for an API version. Write API client software that can handle new fields in return data.

Toast will host a version of an API for a minimum of one year from its general availability (GA) release in the production environment.
